[N]かた　a person in polite way

方かた is more polite way to say “a person” than 人ひと.

Another way to read this Kanji is ”ほう”.

方ほう is used in sentences of comparison.

例　彼かれの方ほうが（わたしより）上手じょうずです。

　　He is better than me.

　　富士山ふじさんの方が　あの山やまより高たかいです。　

　　Mt. Fuji is higher than that mountain.
